Medieval Coiling Vines Silk Ribbon Embroidery
Presentation by Cathy Grafton
Speaker and teacher of silk ribbon embroidery, Cathy introduced us to Medieval silk ribbon embroidery. She shared examples of coiling vines, done on banding when visiting us last November. Cathy spoke about the ways that Medieval silk ribbon embroidery was used in the clothing of the time. She also spoke about and shared insights into the Bayou tapestry.

Quilting Through My Life
Presentation by Coleen Walters
Coleen Walters, a Guild member, presented a slide show of quilts that have been a part of her life since she was young. Many of these quilts contained extensive embroidery. What a lovely walk through her world of quilts this presentation was.

Ribbon Ladies

Our special Libby Sturdy presented a lecture about Ribbon Ladies which was a popular hobby in the 1930's - 40's. She accompanied this with a slide show of her vast collection of ribbon ladies. What an eye opening presentation this was!

Nancy Knopf, another esteemed Guild, member, has agreed to step in after our planned artisan was unable to come. She has extensive training in the art of blackwork and she will share her knowledge about, and the history of, blackwork as well as some of her completed works with us.

Field Trip to Nancy's Home
Presentation by Nancy Sturgeon
Nancy is so excited to show us her
treasures. She has two walls full of
historic samplers and fun antique quilts
and a home filled with many
handstitched items. We plan to finish
this enriching tour with box lunches in
her home. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we have postponed this activity to next year's agenda.
