Please note the meeting, program and workshop are being held at the Lake Hinsdale Clubhouse.

Program:  Kennette Bledsoe and Karen Dodaro visited Japan on a textile tour in May, 2023. They attended workshops, shopped, saw, learned, and soaked up the culture. These wonderful experiences will be shared. 

Workshop: Introduction to our year long philanthropic project, needlepoint Hospice Hearts, presented by Mindy McMahon.

October 21, 2024

Program:  

Part 1 - MaryJane Drews collects orphaned fiber pieces ranging from vintage fabric tolls, needlepoint and embellishments in order to reclaim and create bucket hats.  Part 2- Mary Molfese taught herself needle sculpting, began making 3 dimensional faces and then designed her own dolls. They both  will present their needle art journeys.

Workshop: Participants take home their uniquely created 3 dimension soft needle sculpting doll.

November 18, 2024

Program:  Tammy Deck, from TLD designs, is an award winning fiber & mixed media artist. She will share her wool felting journey and examples of her work

Workshop: Tammy will teach us how to create a sculptural felt flower brooch.

No December program/workshop

January 20, 2025

Program:  Katie Strachan will present virtually her designs and caskets that typify the needlework practiced by 17th century English schoolgirls. 

Workshop: Helpful gadgets we can't live without.  Bring your favorite stitching gadget to highlight. Independent session to continue working your Master Embroidery Academy project or any project of your choice.

February 17, 2025

Program:  Kathleen Littleton, Cross Stitch Antiques, will present the history of antique samplers and offer her lecture guidebook for $14.00.  Kathleen invites you to bring your antique samplers so she can offer feedback.

Workshop: The Orphan Annie cross stitch design that Kathleen created is inspired by a brief thought of what if Annie had been an orphan at the Bristol School

Program:  Bridget Tamillow, I Got You in Stitches, will share her journey from cross stitch to embroidery for the modern age. 

Workshop: Bridget’s workshop is creating an embroidered bear of fox that finishes in a hoop.  View website

Supply List:  Bring basic embroidery supplies (needles, threads, scissors) as well as any magnification/light device you normally use

Program:  Aprons have been worn by men and women for centuries for both fashion and function. Claudia Moffat will present her collection of over 100 vintage aprons, highlight the many uses, and focus on those made post World War II. Wear your favorite apron so we can learn the history of it! 

Workshop: Anne Zick and will teach participants how to sew yo-yos for our own apron and embellish with some embroidery. 

Supply List: Bring basic embroidery and sewing supplies (needles, threads, scissors)

Tammy of TLD Designs invites us to her Berwyn studio to have a hands-on dye painting experience on 100% mercerized cotton embroidery floss/threads provided to each participant.  Dress for messy work. Dyes, gloves and home rinsing/finishing instruction sheet included.
